Adoption – Kite

Circumstances: Entangled/Hooked

“Kite” a sub-adult loggerhead sea turtle was rescued on September 8th from Russell-Fields City Pier in Panama City Beach in Bay County. He/she was entangled and hooked with fishing gear that was wrapped around the right front flipper. Kite also had two hooks that had to be removed from the mouth. 

Fishing gear was also found to be ingested. Cotton balls are being added to the diet in hopes to assist in passing this internal gear naturally. Kite is receiving antibiotics, has a good appetite, and will be closely monitored until the gear has passed.
