Mr. Ron Hardy – President & Co-Founder

Mr. Ron Hardy brings over 25 years of experience in the marine industry. After starting his professional journey as a high school band director, he transitioned into the marine park business in 1984. Since then, he has played a significant role in the field, including serving as a key member of the Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums, an international organization dedicated to accrediting marine parks, aquariums, zoos, and research facilities. His leadership continues to guide GWMI’s mission and strategic growth.

Mrs. Pamela George Vice President – Co-Founder

Ms. Pam George has over 18 years of experience working with Gulf World, where she played a vital role in both operational and community engagement efforts. A founding member of GWMI, Pam has been a strong advocate for marine conservation and education. In addition to her work with the Institute, she has served on the Board of Directors for the Panama City Beach Chamber of Commerce and is actively involved in multiple boards and committees supporting local organizations.

Ms. Julia Cunningham – Secretary & Co-Founder

Julia Cunningham recently retired as Vice President of Business Development for Fortune 100 corporations, where she worked with companies generating more than $2 billion in annual revenue. Now focused full-time on her passion for the Gulf Coast, she is a licensed Realtor with Coastal Realty Group, helping others discover the area’s unique charm. Julia has served on multiple boards appointed by the Gulf County Commissioners and was a member of the Gulf County Tourist Development Council for eight years. Mrs. Carol Roberts – Director

Carol Roberts served as the President and CEO of the Bay County Chamber of Commerce for over 45 years. Under her leadership, she spearheaded several transformative initiatives, including the relocation of the regional airport and the introduction of key infrastructure projects. Carol is widely recognized for her exceptional business insight and her unique ability to build strong, lasting relationships across both the public and private sectors.

Dr. Forrest I. Townsend Jr., DVM – Director

Dr. Forrest Townsend is a retired veterinarian and former owner of Bayside Hospital for Animals. With 34 years of experience as a marine mammal veterinarian, he has consulted for numerous oceanariums and marine facilities. He also served as the lead veterinarian for the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) wild dolphin health assessments for 20 years. Dr. Townsend’s clinical expertise and field research continue to support marine mammal conservation and health monitoring efforts nationwide.
